Thirteen Things about YOUR NAME

1. In January, I decided again that I would not attempt

making New Years Resolutions (because I never keep them anyway)

But I made only 1.....To be the Best Me & Mom that I could Be

I'm not sure how I did as far as this goal is concerned but I do know

I've had a pretty good year personally. And Samantha has proclaimed Home "like

the best place ever!" I must be doing something right in the Mom department.

2. I made really good progress in the "calling a spade a spade"

department. I'm no longer afraid of losing friends because I need to

be a people pleaser. I'm being truer to myself and it's a good thing!

3. February was Samantha's school Valentines Day party and I helped

as a room Mom, what treasure to be able to share that with her. August brought

the start of another school year and I am officially the mother of a big 1st grader!

I miss her alot during the day but I like that I can go have lunch with her whenever I want.

Or whenever she wants me too and she does and she is just so cute.

4. In March I went on my first scrapbooking retreat with the girlfriends

and had such a blast! Can't wait to do it again! Overall, I think I had a good year with

my scrapbooking. I am happy with alot of my pages, I always wish I could have gotton

more done but I am still happy with what I did. I feel good that I have found something

that makes me happy and will be treasured by future gernerations.

5. In April, my baby had her Golden Birthday. She turned 7 on the 7th.

Being a Mom is the greatest joy ever!

6. Samantha played her 1st year of soccer last spring. What a fun adventure that was.

The missing shirt caper I could have done without. What happened? She didn't get a shirt like

she was supposed to. We missed the 1st practice meeting because we were sick

so when another kid signed up later that week they thought they had an extra shirt and gave

them ours. One would think, not getting a soccer shirt wouldn't be the end of the world! But as it turns

out... it was. Not for Samantha & not me either. But of course everybody had to assume it was my

fault because I shirley did something wrong, like not get her registered in time. Plus the refs were constantly

getting her mixed up with what team she was on. Chaos all around. Top that off with her looking like

the odd duck for pictures......but I digress. She still looked super cute, IMO.

I hope she sticks with it. I've always wanted one of those "Soccer Mom" bumper stickers ;-) lol

7. I made this the year of givng more handmade gifts. I made tie blankets, I made my first altered

clip board for Samantha's Kindergarten teacher, cards and mini scrapbooks. And I still get nervous

when I give a homemade gift.

8. July and August brought our big trip to California. Summary...4 adults - 1 being deaf,

1 child, 2 motocycles, one car and a dog. I will forever hate squirrels!

But there were lots of good times and visiting. All in all, we made it there and back;

safe and sound and I thank God for that!

9. Started the babysitting adventure of a 11 month old and 5 yr old. It's been

interesting and at times stressful but I keep plugging along. I'm getting a whole new lesson in patience.

10. Ron and I were married 9 years this Septemeber. When I thought I lost my anniversay

ring at a restraunt, I learned how far I would go for love. {LOL} I braved "who knows

what" by searching through the garbage in the restraunt bathroom because I thought it had come

off when I was washing my hands. Only to find it on the floor next to my computer when I got home! *sigh*

I feel this year was a turning point in our relationship on some levels. I think we've learned and grown alot

together as a couple and as parents. I certainly do love him alot and am glad that I have him in my life.

11. I turned 33 in Nov. I think that really was a turning point in my personal growth. I am more

forgiving of myself. I also learned a new skill....I can sign the alphabet and some words and phrases.

And I still don't stress about getting old :-)

12. Happy Holidays! I hosted Thanksgiving this year at my house & it was great.

Christmas also went off without a hitch, and by that I mean no family dramas....just smooth.

I was sorrounded by most of the people I love and just had a really great time.

13. Overall, I found an inner peace this year I really thought I had lost. Praying more. Finding more joy

in the little things in life. Caring more. Realizing who I have been, who I am & most importantly....who

I would like to be. I am renewing my relationship with God.

I was reading about how some of the stars spent their Christmas..........

A newly single Kid Rock was also busy giving back this year. The "Cowboy" rocker met up with U.S. troops stationed in Kuwait and Iraq to spread a little good cheer and show his appreciation for the sacrifices they have made to fight for their country.

"This year for Christmas I wanted to make sure somebody was thanking our troops for their service, no matter what our views are on the current situation in Iraq," Rock said in a statement.

According to his Website blog, Rock traveled Sunday to three different camps in Iraq, where he sang and signed autographs for 16 hours, "old school style through s---y speakers and no mic stand," and had "one of the most thrilling rides of [his] life in a Blackhawk…with some real 'rock n roll cowboy pilots'!!"

"I am very proud and happy to be here with some of the finest men and women in the world on Christmas eve [sic]," he wrote.

"These troops bust their asses here and that's the real story, long hours, 140 degree summers and freezing nights this time of year, walking around with 60 or 70 pounds of gear, bathrooms and showers are worse than any ghetto I've ever stayed in… No matter what you think of this war, you have to support and respect our troops. I know all of us do, but maybe try and show a little more if you can."

Your Christmas is Most Like: A Very Brady Christmas

For you, it's all about sharing times with family.
Even if you all get a bit cheesy at times.

Survived Thanksgiving at My House

Actually it was pretty good. I know I have so much to be thankful for expecially my dear & healthy family that I loved beyond measure.

Ron helped me with the Turkey. WE got up early and I prepared the stuffing while he got the turkey ready. Then he stuffed it, oiled it down and put it in the oven. My aunt and her 3 teenage kids came. I had to make a last minute trip to the store. So I left, I told her she needed to use the 2 smaller pots for the 10lbs of potatoes because the big stock pot is too big for my stove and takes a long time to boil. Well she didn't listen to me and we ended up eating almost 2 hours later than planned. but the food was good and all turned out ok. She also spoiled my dh with home made sweet potatoes! Hope he doesn't have any grand illusions of me following suit :-D

My mom and sister came and brought the paper with all the sales adds. We all yapped and later on some of us played Scrabble.

Even tho Samantha and I were sick with colds we did ok. She was glad to have big kids to play with her but by the end of the day we were both wiped out.

I don't do Black Friday!!!! do you???? I'm sorry but there is nothing I could ever need or want that would justify getting up at that hour.... EVER! The crowds really don't bother me as I worked for Wal-Mart for 7 years so I'm pretty Black Friday Savvy! But I do just in general avoid going. And I'm a procrastinator big time so I'm usually doing alot of shopping on the last day and opting for quite a few gift cards. Which I may be rethinking, after I read that like some 19% of the people who receive gc's don't use them. It amounts to roughly 20 some million in unused gc's floating around!!! Please people, if you get a gc this year and have no intention of using it....please send it my way, I WILL!!! I addy iss....... hehehehe

Happy Holiday Season Everyone!!

Samantha's Sunday morning Secret Project

We weren't allowed to look until she was done! She used about a 1/3 of my box of Puffs with lotion for this! Took her about 2 hours altogether.

Apparenlty she was inspired by her favorite video game on XBox that she likes to play :)

I just love my kiddo!

All The Same by Sickpuppies
I don't mind where you come from
As long as you come to me
I don't like illusions I can't see
Them clearly

I don't care no I wouldn't dare
To fix the twist in you
You've shown me eventually
What you'll do

I don't mind...
I don't care...
As long as you're here

Go ahead tell me you'll leave again
You'll just come back running
Holding your scarred heart in hand
It's all the same
And I'll take you for who you are
If you take me for everything
Do it all over again
It's all the same

Hours slide and days go by
Till you decide to come
And in between it always seems too long
All of a sudden

And I have the skill, yeah I have the will
To breathe you in while I can
However long you stay
Is all that I am

I don't mind...
I don't care...
As long as you're here

Go ahead tell me you'll leave again
You'll just come back running
Holding your scarred heart in hand
It's all the same
And I'll take you for who you are
If you take me for everything
Do it all over again
It's always the same

Wrong or right
Black or white
If I close my eyes
It's all the same

In my life
The compromise
I close my eyes
It's all the same

Go ahead say it you're leaving
You'll just come back running
Holding your scarred heart in hand
It's all the same
And I'll take you for who you are
If you take me for everything
Do it all over again
It's all the same

Warning: You Will Probably Cry! I did

http://www.kyledavidmiller.memory-of.com/

Samantha has the Britax 5 point harness carseat for kids up to 80 lbs.
I remember when I decided to buy it. It was about 3 or so years ago. A couple of moms had bought them for their kids. Samantha weighed about 40 lbs. She was growing out of her old 5 point harness carseat and I was contemplating which booster seat to buy. Ron actually tried talking me out of the booster seat, stating that she was old enough to just the use the seatbelt by itself. (according to the law at the time she was.... 4 years old) Our laws just changed this fall to 80 lbs or 8 years old must at least be in a booster. Anywho, That summer I visited a booth at the fair and found out that the AAP (American Academy of Pediatrics) recommended up to 80 lbs. be in a booster and preferably a 5 point harness. Well, Ron still wasn't convinced. He never used any of this with his older kids and they fared just fine. See, he has 2 older boys from his first marriage, both born in the early 80's. So they were about 2 or 3 when they moved into regular seat belts. seems crazy to me but that's just how things were. But we are learning now more and more about proper safety for children. I say because nothing happened to them, they were just lucky is all. law of averages or whatever. So I contemplated and hemmed and hawed in my heart and mind. In the end, I decided on my own to just order the Britax and be done with it. I decided "IF" something happened I couldn't live with myself knowing, better options were out there. I don't work, so I couldn't afford to go out and buy a better car (side air bags and all that) but I could get the best car seat and at $250, I agree there was some sticker shock. But I also felt in my heart, it was what I needed to do. She is my only baby. And not that I think that parents who have more than 1 child love any child more or feel one is expendable just because they have more. But sometimes for me this issue comes up in my head, he has & has raised 2 full grown children......she is my ONLY baby. Of course, as expected Ron grumbled and gumped for a few days. Don't get me wrong, he didn't yell and scream or demand I send it back, just in general really shocked that I could justify the price. I don't think he stopped grumbling because he had a change of heart and realized I was right or anything. I think he just figured, well the darn thing is already bought and here and might as well move on.
After seeing this video, I'm more than ever satisfied with my choice of car seats. And Samantha really likes it, it is very comfortable. This kid has made 4 cross country trips in this carseat..... without a tv.

I Love my Husband!

So, last nite I was so tired from my new day right? Well, when Ron and I crawled into bed last night without a thought I asked "Honey can you rub my back" And as I'm laying there, I started thinking about his day that he told me about after work. They had a huge truck load. So 3 guys.....22,000 pounds of garage doors, operators and parts and they unload it all by hand. And there I was enjoying my back rub, yeah, I love my hubby :)

Anyway, only have the baby here today and I think I'm going to try nap while he's napping. See how that works out.

New Ventures

Monday was the start of a new venture for me. My friend was strapped for day care for her 9 month old son. So starting today, I will have Cooper 5 days a week from 7:45 to 4:45. And I might be helping her out with her pre-school daughter until she can find a more permanent situation. Today, was one of those days. She was good but it's all the constant watching. I'm so tired!
On one hand I really did want to say no because I enjoy my time of just being alone. And when I get sick, things tend to just knock me on my butt. I know the little bit of extra money will be nice. Maybe once I get a routine, it won't be so bad. I just really don't want to add any stress to my life. So oh well, here's to new ventures!

Stand Up and Be Strong

Probably my fav song right now.

Stand Up and Be Strong by Soul Asylum
You might be right
You might be wrong
You might just think your life has gone on for too long
Your knees get weak
Your heart grows cold
And your tired of doing everything you´re told

And nothing can take away from you
And what you take what you´ve been through
Stand up and be strong
Stand up and be strong
It wont take long
You cant go on
Stand up and be strong

You might have to fight
You might have to cry
You might have to cry
You might have to fight
Stand up and be strong

You live in the hills
You take too many pills
If you´ve lost the thrill against your own will
Stand up and be strong

And nothing can take away from you
And what you take
What you know what you´ve got to do
Stand up and be strong
Stand up and be strong
It wont take long you cant go on
Stand up and be strong

If you get all depressed
When you get undressed
If youre life is a mess
Remember you´re blessed stand up and be
Stand up and be
Stand up and be strong
Stand up and be strong
It wont take long
You cant go on
Stand up and be strong
Stand up and be strong
Stand up and be strong
You cant go on it wont take long stand up and be strong

more tie blanket gifts

The 1st weekend of September, my little cousin Aaron turned 12. I decided to make him a blanket. I really anticipated that it would be so under appreciated. Guess what? He loved it! I got several, "Thank you Auntie Cami!" He kept checking out the flames and just proclaiming it was so cool. He was totally thrilled with getting a blanket versus toys. I have been giving money but I just love these blankets and I really like giving a personal gift and something I made. It was funny, my Aunt had called earlier in the day and I told her I was making a blanket and she didn't think anything of it. Then when I met up with them later and gave Aaron his blanket she said "oh, that's who you were making a blanket for"
Oh my gosh...with wide eyes Aaron said "You made this!?!" yup with my own 2 hands buddy. That little boy totally made my day, "Oh Auntie Cami, that makes it way more special, thank you!"

Then I also made one for my friends daughter who turned 5 last weekend. Here she is showing hers off! I made blankets for all 4 of her kids this year and now I wish I had gotton a picture of them all with their blankets.

Samantha had open house nite at her school and she showed us her class room.

Samantha at her desk

Samantha's painting

"Teacher, this is my Dad!"

The tooth chart!

They get their names on when they lose a tooth and they get to pick a tooth related book for the teacher to read. Tomorrow she'll get to pick another book...as she lost her 8th tooth tonite, 2 of them in one week! And this one was barely loose when she lost the other one. And it was kinda funny I asked her if I could have this tooth since she just lost one to put under my pillow this time. Well no, she wasn't having any of that...it's her tooth. So then when I was putting her to bed tonite she said "Mom, your not going to steal my tooth, are you Mom? I mean you wouldn't do that? right Mom??" LOL!

New Music! because I can't get enough of this song!

Jeremy Camp - Biography
Biography 1: Anonymous

Best singer, best song writer, best of the best....that is Jeremy Camp. Jeremy Camp has brought life to the Christian music industry with his heart- piercing songs that have changed and shaped our lives. Some of Jeremy’s best songs were written during the most difficult time of his life. His young wife had died of cancer, but through it all Jeremy has shown the same grace that God has given him. Jeremy has shown us through song that when you still believe God can help you through- God will never fail. Jeremy is an exhibition of the holy grace of God. If He hasn’t failed Jeremy, He won’t fail you!

Jeremy Camp - Take You Back

The reason why I stand
The answer lies in you
You hung to make me strong
Though my praise was few
When I fall and bring your name down

But I have found in you
A heart that pleads forgiveness
Replacing all these thoughts
Of painful memories
But I know
That your response will always be

(Chorus)
I'll take you back always
And even when your fight is over now
Even when your fight is over now
I'll take you back always
And even when the pain is coming through
Even when the pain is coming through
I'll take you back

You satisfy this cry
Of what I'm looking for
And I take all I can
And lay it down
Before the throne of endless grace, now
That radiates what's true

I'm in the only place
That erases all these faults
That have overtaken me
But I know
That your response will always be

(Repeat Chorus)

I can only speak
With a grateful heart
As I'm pierced by this gift
Of your love

I will always bring an offering
I can never thank you enough

(Chorus Two)
You'll take me back always
And even when my fight is over now
Even when my fight is over now
You'll take me back always
And even when my pain is coming through
Even when my pain is coming through
You'll take me back always

Even when my fight is over now
Even when my fight is over now

You'll take me back always

Even when my pain is coming through
Even when my pain is coming through

You'll take me back

Epihany

I recently read an article and I don't remember if it was in a magazine or online but it was about eliminating distracting white space from layouts. It occured to me as I was looking at all the "wrong" layouts that THOSE are my layouts. Not those ones exactly but I do that alot, more than alot.... all the time. So even if I may try scraplifting someone, that is part of the reason that it always looks off to me. Why doesn't mine look as good at this one or that one? I also know that I'm not one of those creative genius' and I never will be. But I'm happy that a creative thing is finally making sense to me. Alot of the time, I read articles and feel like "What on earth are they possibly talking about?" I will continue to scrap for me because it makes me happy. and share not because I think my layouts are "the next cutest thing" but because I feel good getting something done and I think my kid is cute enough to share :)
anyway, my 1st attempt at eliminating distracting white space. When I was first working on this i was tilting pictures this way and that way. and there they were....those big "holes" pulling my attention away from my pictures. So, I brought it more together and am way more happy with it.

This is a recent layout I did for a challenge in one of my groups SBS.
I used the lyrics from Kelly Osbourne's son "More Than Life Itself" When I first heard this song, I cried because it's all the things I felt but never got the chance to say. My Grandpa passed away in Arpil 1997, I will always miss him.

The middle part is a pocket for the cd. I wanted to find the song to put here but can't find it so I'll just post the lyrics.

More than Life Itself by Kelly Osbourne
You never said that you were perfect
But you always are to me
Loving you is always worth it'
Cause you see so much in me

And when I'm down you're there to lift me
You come around when I need a friend

And no one loves me like you do
Unconditional and true
You're the shoulder that I've always known
And the hand that says I'm not alone

More than myself
I love you more than life itself

Did you know that I get lonely
At the thought of you not being here

Can you see that you're the only
One who never disappears
And when I fear you are the comfort
The one who steers me to the light

And no one loves me like you do
Unconditional and true
You're the shoulder that I've always known
And the hand that says I'm not alone

More than myself
I love you more than life itself

I love you I love you I love you
And I don't care if it sounds trite
I'll say it over and over
It makes me feel alive
You gave me all my fire
By watching you live by what you believe
So many things you taught me
And even when you caught me
I always knew that you, you could still see
The best in me

The best in me (spoken)
No one loves me like you do
Unconditional and true
You're the shoulder that I've always known
And the hand that says I'm not alone

More than myself
I love you more than life itself
More than you know
I love you more than life itself

Shoe Diva ( New Layout)

Did this for a challenge. It was a sketch from Dailysketches.com

I think if you click on it to make it bigger, you can read the journaling. But in case you can't, it reads: "Please Mom, can I have them? I know I will grow into them, I know I will!"
I finally decided I would try scanning and attempt my stitching program. HOly Hannah!! what a difference that makes! my scanner is old, so the quality is still off, but a world of difference.
So then, do you see how much paper I have on this?? not much right?!?!? other than the black background. um, guess how many pieces of paper I hacked circles out of before I decided which color and direction I wanted to go with this???? 8, can you believe that? now what am I going to do with all these circles and pieces? I know I can't just turn them into something super cute like most scrappy girls can, so here I sit. blaghity blargh :O

Yesterday Samantha got stung by a bee after school. we put ice on it right away. it was kinda funny, my friend Cara went into the school to see if she could get some ice and as we were waiting for her and in between sobs, Samantha says... "use the ice pack in my lunchbox!" What a genius! here I am 'THE MOM', do I think of such things???? No...ack! I didn't have any ointment at home so we iced it and then cleaned it with alcohol. by bed time, other than a small red spot...you would have never known she had been stung. Then this morning, she wakes up at 6am complaining of not feeling well but sounding like cold symptons, I give her some ibuprofen to help her sleep and press on. She gets up at 8:30 eats breakfast, watches tv and continues on to play the morning away. at about noon, she asks me "if I will play some video games with her?" and I then sat on the couch with her. She put her foot on my lap, I could feel it was hot. It was awful red and swollen. So I alert Ron. "yeah, it's a bee sting...it'll happen" Ok, but I decide to call the clinic anyway. At this point, she says it doesn't hurt. They advise Benadryl, which I have none of or meat tenderize with baking soda to make a paste...none of that either. So, I finally convince Samantha we'll run very quickly to the grocery store and get Benadryl. Well, they were out of the liquid but had the cream. Buy that and go home. put it on her foot and she then sleeps for almost 3 hours. When she wakes up, the thing is swollen more than ever and still red and hot. I decide no more, we're going to the clinic. The Dr. says she's pretty sure that it is an allergic reaction. She has never had a reaction to a bee sting like this before. She prescribes prednizone and Benedryl. Also she gave me antibiotics. If it doesn't get better by tomorrow evening, then it's probably an infection. WEll thank goodness the pharmacy there had the Benedryl. But really she hates it and the prednizone so it's a fight to get it down her. She is not a good medicine taker, if she doesn't like it...she fights it. I tried mixing it with water and then kool aid and to no avail, still didn't get the whole dose down her. altho, she did finally get the dose of Benedryl down. So, depending what her Dr. says this week at the re-check, we could end up getting an epi pen for future reactions because they can progressively get worse. UGH!!
But hey, I scrapped :-)

Blog Challenge from Amy

get to know this scrapper...

1. Do you use older product that has been out on the market or do you strictly use new/hot merchandise?
I use lots of older stuff, I like all the new stuff, but old stuff mixed with new is fun. Plus, I usually don't scrap fast enough to keep up with the trends :)

2. When you finish a layout do you put them in albums right away or do they lay on your desk/shelf for months?
I usually put them away 2 or 3 at a time. If I know I'm done scrapping or it's been a couple of days, I'll put just one away. I really don't want them to get ruined! The only way I'll have more than a few is if I've been to a big crop where I can't put them away right away.

3. Are there several adhesives used on each layout or do you usually stick to one? I mostly use CM tape runners. I also use photo tabs but their not my main resource. I like glue dots for heavier embellishments.

4. How often do you get to share your creative pages with people other than immediate family?
Not often in person, I do occasionally attend crops and sometimes I might bring an album to share. or share what I'm working on but I share most of my stuff online though.

5. How many people have you made into scrappers? Just 1

Thanks Amy for the challenge!

"Local Girl Makes Fool of Herself"

Yeah, that's what happens when celebrities come to town! lol

They are filming Extreme Makeover HOme Addition in our city this week. I love this show! I totally cry every time I watch it. Today, after I took Samantha to school I wandered on over there. Well actually, my sister called me and said they were in town checking things out and asked if I wanted to come on over. My sister works for a small local newspaper so she and her co-worker had press passes. I thought "oh great! I'll be standing by myself lookin like an idiot!" But hey, I went anyway ;-)
Well it didn't take long and my sister pointed out Paul to me. He actually looked like he was keepin kinda busy, he walked around quite a bit. Well, when I got there it ended up I could stand right in front of the media tent so I did. Well, today there was some celebrity interviewing going on. Apparently, the word on the street was {Ty} took the day off so that dashed a couple hopes but it was still kinda fun to hang out. They were interviewing the new guy joining the show (I think his name is John) when I got there. This is actually the new guys first build. But I didn't get a pic when he left as I was watching Paul. So, I'm watching Paul being busy and I suddenly spot him...loooks like he's going to walk right past me to the Media tent for his interview. So I snapped my pic and {darn} if somebody didn't walk right in front of him! So, I hurry to try again and I think it was the combination of me moving so much figuring I was going to miss my shot & him walking because the picture came out so dark but I'm including it anyway! lol
OMG!!! He TALKED to ME!!!!!! I snapped my pic and *might or might not* have exclaimed "GOT HIM!" and he said "hey, how ya doin?" I'm like "Good, how are you" to which he smiled. And then I said, "thanks for letting me take your picture!!" (Like he had a choice?!?!?! ROFLMBO!!!) and As, he's walking away.....I'm such a dork! I didn't think I said it that loud but my sister informed me she heard me over at the tent...ack! what a loud mouth some ND chic is! But so here's the pic..... (dark and blurry but it's Paul walking right up to me)

ON THE SCENE..... Tha's Paul standing about front middle of the photo, wearing the tan vest and he's looking at the house and talking to some lady. Miiiight you take a guess who that small blonde chic is, standing waaay back in front of the fence in the lower right of the photo???? that would be me :D
"Will somebody please Remove the lawn gnome from the scene!"

Paul during his radio interview. He looks pretty intent, whatever he's talking about! lol

The House.... Oh me oh my! if that was my house, Guess what that triangular loft with the awesome windows in the middle would be????? OI, yes...scrappy room indeed my friend :)

Eduardo being all cute and stuff :)
So, if your an Eduardo fan this one is for you!

My lucky duck of a sister (right) and her co-worker posing with Eduardo
He was so sweet to them too! even crouched down more to their level so he could put his arms around them...pretty sweet I say!

And one more ofEduardo because he is so sexy :)
I'm pretty proud of my self for getting this shot! lol

And so there it is, pictures of an Extreme HOme Makeover in progress. The family has a disabled son who has cerebral palsy. The way their house was set up before, they carried their son around alot in their house because it wasn't so wheel chair freindly. The dad works at Target and has recently had 2 heart attacks and now all the of carrying the child fell on the mother as the father wasn't supposed to do any lifting. So that's a little background of their story.

And a new music! I just think this song and video are funny :D
