Video Pick of the day....

Because I really like this song! And I scored it for FREE on Facebook because he is an unsigned artist just trying to get his music out there! Frequently I complain about FB but it definitely has it perks!

Directions:

Combine eggs, milk, vanilla and salt.
Beat slightly with a fork till blended.
In a medium sized skillet melt butter or margarine.
Dip bread slices into egg mixture, coating both sides of each.
Fry bread until golden brown on one side; turn and fry second side. Top each toast slice with some chopped peanuts.

"Dona Nobis Pacem" GRANT US PEACE

Peace in Me

I am very glad that in a world of so much hatred and selfishness I am able to find peace within myself. The innerpeace that brings me so much joy when I am with my family. The peace of my soul when I feel I have done good works for others. The peace of my mind of knowing I have enough. The peace of love that comes from the best thing that every happened to me, being a Mother. And the peace I pray for everyday for the world I love: a peace free from hate and fear and where every child has a smile. I truly believe that we all can speak the language of peace. ~Dona Nobis Pacem~

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I like to believe that people in the long run are going to do more to promote peace than our governments. Indeed, I think that people want peace so much that one of these days governments had better get out of the way and let them have it.

What I Believe on Election Day

I do not believe that voting is a civic duty. I don't think anyone should vote based on looks, religion, ethnic background or for who is popular with celebrities.

I believe voting is a priviledge and civic right. If you want to vote, that's great! But get informed and make an informed to the best of your ability decision based on issues.

I don't believe everyone has to vote. Voting should be taken seriously. If you don't know the issues, don't vote.

I think it's a shame that celebrities and such use their status to influence people to vote their way.

I believe we should respect each others views as human beings. Just because we don't vote the same doesn't mean we can't be friends.

I believe McCain is getting a bad rap because of Bush. McCain is not Bush & shouldn't be judged as so because he is a Republican.

I believe the whole political system is corrupt & that is sad. There is too much money in politics. Let's take the money out and then let's vote.

I believe I will be casting my "informed" vote today! Voting is not your civic duty, it's your civic right and a priviledge...Don't Abuse the Vote!!!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now something that perstains me specifically. Today voting is being done in our city in our public schools. So people wanting to vote go down to whatever school district they are in. I was floored to find out they were using the school for voting during school hours. I'm a bit outraged and have been stressing over it all day. Does anybody else think that is not right??? Does anyone else's city do this? I just don't think it's a good idea to have many random people wandering around the school while children are there! And in this especially big election where if radicals are likely to be out for a cause it's on election day. In the big picture I'm probably worrying for nothing & everything will be alright. But I think better safe than sorry. We've already had to make so many changes to the school in an attempt to keep our kids safe from outsiders. So open up the school to anybody off the street during school hours?!?!?! I'm so mad!

So I'm off to vote. I'm very nervous and I hope I've made all the right choices.

Something new....SATURDAY SOCIAL

I stumbled across this cute little site this morning. It caught my attention because I like questions, meme's, lists & schtuff like that :)
I've often thought of doing something similar myself but I'm not very creative for coming up with questions.

Today's Saturday Social Question:

Do you like to cook? What is your best dish?

My Answer:
I don't hate it but not a favorite thing to do either. I'm not that great of a cook & when I do I like to keep it simple. I'm mostly a convenient cook, I like cute little boxes and think Campbells soup can fix just about anything! lol
I guess I don't think cooking is the best use of my time.
My favorite thing to make and eat is my Tatertot hotdish & I've never got any complaints yet :)

Brenda Photo Challenge 10-18-08

This weeks hostess was Donna and she chose the theme old.
The first thing I thought of was this Christmas Cactus

This cactus is special and old because it belongs to our sweet friend David, he is 93.

My Mom is a caregiver to David & we all enjoy spending time with him. This past Easter I learned that David's mother actually started the descendant to this Christmas cactus about 120 years ago! Talk about roots! lol...roots! :) Anyway, I'm told the planter is quite old too about 100 years!

It grew and grew and after her death was seperated into 3 plants one of which David cares for. Cuttings are always shared with family and friends and now I too, am an owner of plant with a rich history... this wonderful Christmas cactus.

This is a picture of an old train station and train from our vacation to Sacramento 3 years ago.

And lastly an old spider press that engraves plates for engraving our money. It was on display at the Bureau of Printing and Engraving, we visited to DC this past summer.

Cami's DOUBLE Video pick of the day :)

Oh, I'm on a Serena Ryder kick. Might very well be a personal mission to make people love her! lol...Gol, she's 25, so talented and just look how beautiful she is too! :)

Cami Loves her Mondays! :)

You might not know it, but Monday is my fav day of the week Over time, Monday as become my "Me" day. My day to goof off (not that I don't goof off on other days too...lol) my day to play, my day not to do those pesky chores (for the most part) and I try not to schedule anything if I can. Monday, Ron goes back to work and Samantha goes back to school and that's when I take time for me. As much as I LOVE my family, Monday is kind of a refreshing fun day. If you ask me, weekends can be so overrated! hehehe

This weekend Samantha made this little guy to keep me company

With strict instructions to "Not let him get dusty, he's allergic to dust!" lol...ok, I think she's trying to tell me something Perhaps I shouldn't be taking Monday off after all!

Lordy, Lordy...it's so GOOD to be Home!

So we just returned from Maryland from our vacation. Which really wasn't much of a vacation. I was telling Ron that someday I would love to have a real vacation..... where we can stay at a hotel, sleep in, not have any schedules or rushing to do everything on our list, some peace and calm and fun & just enjoy vacation. hmmm??!?!? don't know if that will ever happen but he seemed to think it was a good idea too and a girl can dream can't she :)

We talked about starting out with just a weekend....not exactly what I was orginally thinking. Buuut.... Now, I'm thinking Bismarck sounds good because I heard they have Ruby Tuesday. I ate there for the 1st time on our trip and Ruby Tuesday is now my ultimate fav restraunt!!!
Ruby Tuesday

Everytime we go on "vacation"...it's always to visit his family. Which of course it's good to see them especially for him being so far from them, I know he misses them. Especially after both his brother and sister died so young. But so yeah it's not vacation, it's just a trip. And we do try to fit "fun vacation type things" in too. Although Ron, Samantha and I seem to travel quite well, when we throw in other people....it doesn't work as well. I imagine it's probably the same for most people. And if it's not, don't tell me because I would prefer to believe it is..... I do live in my own little rose colored world afterall. But for as well as we do for just us as a family....we also tend to have more than our "fair share" of trip *Snafoos*

So my question is...How often do you/your family take a real vacation? One where you come home well rested and can't stop talking about all the fun you had??

I realize with most vacations there is that "agenda"...I guess that's just part of traveling. Ultimately why would one travel somewhere and not have any plans?? but I sure could use a real vacation.
